The Government has introduced three main types of account. These are ‘Stakeholder’, ‘Non-stakeholder’ and ‘Savings’. At The Share Centre we offer the first two types of account.

Our Stakeholder Child Trust Fund invests in a single fund - the Legal & General UK Index Trust. This fund is a good starting point if you’re not sure where best to invest your child’s money, and you don’t wish to choose specific investments yourself. It may also be suitable if you’re unlikely to make significant additional contributions to the Fund.

If you’re serious about saving for your child’s future, however, our ‘Non-stakeholder’ Child Investment Account may be more your thing. This gives you more control because it provides more flexibility with wider investment choices, including our four ‘Preferred Funds’. You can also choose to hold any other eligible stock market-based investments in your account.

If you’re not sure which of our accounts suits you best, our Child Trust Fund Decision Tree can help you.
